LOVE. COMMITMENT. DESIRE.
East Portland Sash & Restoration is built on a shared love of quality woodwork, our commitment to preserving wood windows and our desire to help homeowners maintain the accurate historical architecture of their home.
Stephen’s love of restoration began when he noticed original houses being torn down in his neighborhood and modern homes being erected in their place. A friend told him, “there’s only two things that protect an original building from being torn down; the foundation and the windows.” And sure enough, Stephen watched as original homes with vinyl windows were torn down, while properties that had original windows were restored.
As a native Portlander, Stephen is passionate about local architectural history and loves working on projects where he can find creative ways to keep original elements.
Geoffrey takes an extensive background in woodworking and cabinet-making and applies that to every window he restores or creates. In 2001, when Geoffrey and his wife bought their first house in the Woodstock neighborhood, Geoffrey decided to restore it on his own.
In the process of restoring his original 1925 wood windows, he realized how effective original windows are when restored correctly. He also realized how many homeowners replace their functional wood windows with cheap vinyl windows, without knowing there is another option. Geoffrey is most at home repairing and rebuilding windows in the Sash woodshop.
